Lou's Olympics - Feb. 1 - Apr. 30

Iron Phi is hosting the third annual Lou’s Olympics in early 2024, giving participants an opportunity to go for the gold in 44 athletic competitions. As they compete for gold medals, participants raise funds through their Iron Phi fundraising page to help us leave ALS better than we found it.

Who Can Participate?

Lou’s Olympics is a challenge for both undergraduate and alumni Phi Delts, friends and family of Phi Delts, and current and aspiring Iron Phis. The competition is setup to reward individuals and chapters.

How to Win a Lou's Olympics Gold Medal

Any participant (current or aspiring Iron Phi) who raises $444 or more during Lou’s Olympics is eligible to win the gold medal for one or more of the 44 athletic competitions below. At the end of Lou’s Olympics, a form will be sent to those who raise $444 or more from February 1 - April 30 to document their results. The winner of each competition will be sent a commemorative Lou’s Olympics gold medal.
 
We will also be awarding a Phi Delta Theta branded Solo Stove to our top undergraduate and top alumnus fundraisers during Lou's Olympics.

How to Participate

To participate in Lou's Olympics, simply register for Iron Phi, setup your fundraising page, and begin fundraising. If you already have an Iron Phi fundraising page, login to your Iron Phi account, edit the text on your page, adjust your fundraising goal, and begin fundraising.

Any individual who raises $1,000 and completes one of the Lou's Olympics competitions will receive the normal Iron Phi benefits.

This year's Lou's Olympics features 44 competitions! There is no need to report which Lou's Olympics competition(s) you are participating in until the end of the competition. A form will be sent to those who raise $444 or more from February 1 - April 30 to document their results. You are responsible for tracking your own results and reporting them truthfully at the end.

Running

Golf

  • Most balls hit in a day at range

Weightlifting

  • 1,000-pound challenge (deadlift, bench, squat) + top fundraising total
  • Fastest 444 reps of barbell (bench)

Bodyweight Exercises

  • Work out every day during Lou’s Olympics + top fundraising total

CrossFit

Obstacle Event

Along with the individual competitions, Lou’s Olympics offers an opportunity for chapters to win an international competition as their team members fundraise and go for gold medals. To participate in Lou's Olympics, every individual should register for Iron Phi and setup a fundraising page. If you already have an Iron Phi fundraising page, simply login to your account, edit the text on your page, adjust your fundraising goal, and begin fundraising.

Dollars raised during Lou’s Olympics also count towards a chapter’s Iron Phi Chapter status. A chapter becomes an Iron Phi Chapter when its participants surpass $10,000 raised in a given school year. Iron Phi Chapters receive an Iron Phi Chapter banner.


Chapter Qualifier - February 1 – March 31

Chapters that raise $4,444 or more from February 1 - March 31 qualifiy for Lou’s Olympic Challenge in April and receive a commemorative Lou’s Olympics bats. Fundraising by all participants associated with the chapter's Iron Phi team is included in the chapter’s results, including Phikeias, alumni, family, and friends.


Lou’s Olympic Challenge – April 1 – April 30

Chapters that raise $4,444 or more from February 1 - March 31 gain entry into Lou’s Olympic Challenge in April that is split into two categories:
  • Large chapters - 70+ members
  • Small chapters - 69 members or less
At the end of the competition, the chapter with the highest fundraising total in each category from February 1 – April 30 wins Lou’s Olympic Challenge. The winning chapters will each receive a Lou’s Olympics Champions banner, a feature in The Scroll, and $500 in impact dollars to benefit a local ALS family through Live Like Lou programs.
